FINDING HAPPY, ONE DAY AT A TIME – WEEK FOUR

Happy4Happy New Week!! Can you believe it’s already Week Four?!? You still with me? I sure hope so! As you probably noticed the daily tasks are starting to sound repetitive, but rest assured there is reason for it, and it all comes down to conscious thought and conscious effort. Life is crazy, in a blink time passes and, on many occasions, we are so wrapped up in our own world we miss what’s going on beyond our bubble. We take for granted the little things in life like gratitude, kindness, family, friends and simply saying I love you. This calendar is our reminder every day to consciously be aware of the little things because those little things are what make up you and your life and how you choose to live it.

Over the last couple weeks, I have been blessed with texts and messages from those of you who have felt inspired to keep reading and keep finding their happy, I’ve reconnected with an old friend and began a new adventure, I will have the privilege of mentoring with my new friends, and the more I consciously believe in the good the more in comes into my life. So, for my post this week I want to say Thank You.

Thank you for being a part of my crazy idea that has become so important to me, thank you for taking the time to read these posts, thank you for consciously making efforts to be kind, grateful and good to yourselves, thank you for sharing your experiences, it truly brings joy to my heart, and thank you for choosing happy, because a little more happy in this world is exactly what we humans need, but most of all thank you for believing that happy does exist because you truly deserve it and you are incredibly worth it. Thank you, you are all amazing and my hope for you is that you always find a reason to smile, never forget to be grateful, remember to breath, and even though there will be tough days, happiness is possible.

And now on to Week Four!! Make it awesome, you deserve it!!

Day 1 – Monday

Today, give someone 3 compliments. Just like in the past weeks start handing out the compliments. Try for a minimum of 3 today, either to the same person or 3 different people. Spread some joy and make someone feel a little better about themselves today and watch the smile form on their face. I’ve said it many times, you never know what anyone is going through at any time, but one compliment, one kind word, can help them through that moment or change their mood, which can open their heart a little more that minute, hour or day. Be kind and say it out loud – sprinkle the kindness and lift your soul.

Day 2-Tuesday

Do Something Healthy for Your Body. Here we go again!! By this week, it should be getting easier or you may be looking forward to getting outside or taking a class. I hope so, I can’t express the importance. Physical and mental health go hand in hand with our overall well-being. Treat yourself to some endorphins, it will be fun! Go for a walk, join a class (if you’re local I have many suggestions), drink lots of water, eat your greens, go for a bike ride or take in the fresh air of the outside. Get up and get going, you will not regret it!

Day 3-Wednesday

Tell a Loved One What They Mean to You. On the calendar it says tell a loved one thank you for being in your life, however, it’s so much more than that. Sit down with someone you love today and tell them what their presence in your life means to you. Tell them how they positively contribute to your every day and thank them for adding joy to your life. This may be uncomfortable for some, but I promise you the person on the receiving end will appreciate it more than they will be able to tell you.

Day 4-Thursday

Think of 4 things you are grateful for, and you can’t use the same ones from last week. If you’re counting, after this week we are up to 10 things you are grateful for in your life. Read them all back to yourself and think of four more. While you read and write, reflect on each one and be reminded of all the goodness in your life.

Day 5-Friday

Make a New Connection, Personal or Professional. This may seem silly, but think about it, when was the last time you met someone new or made a new connection. I’m not talking about waving hi to Dave as you pass in the hallway, I mean a real connection, a conversation with someone new. Introduce yourself, put yourself out there, make a new friend or professional contact. You never know what someone new can bring into your life, take a chance you may be surprised.

Day 6-Saturday

Give Back/Volunteer/Pay it Forward. Just like the last few weeks, Saturdays are a fantastic day to give back. This is a weekly task and for good reason. When we give back to others the feeling that fills you up is inexplainable. It is a completely different level of happy because you are giving happy to another. This can be done simply, or it can be dedicated time in the day, however you want to do it, but do something for someone else today, without expecting anything in return.

**This past week several of us volunteered at “Breakfast for Those in Need” hosted by Hometown Happenings and St. Mary’s Church, and it was a humbling experience, plus I met some wonderful people…stay tuned, I plan to post about.

If you have any ideas for this week, please do not hesitate to drop it in the comments or post it on the page!

Day 7-Sunday

Reflection/Self-Care. You know the drill, because this is so very important, this is another weekly task. Spend this day to take a moment to reflect on your week, on your thoughts and on your emotions. Use this day to meditate, pray, read, sleep, or just sit in the quiet to calm your mind, hear your heart, and connect to yourself so you are ready for the week ahead. I know life can get busy, but please do not skip this day, it’s so very important for your well-being and for your soul.

***Some good reads: Universe Has Your Back, Happiness Advantage, The Happiness Project, You are a Badass, anything by Brene Brown… any suggestions, please share!!

*****

YAY! Week Four, I am overjoyed you are here and can’t wait to keep going, one day at a time! Finding Happy may seem like a mountain to climb by yourself, but together anything is possible! As usual, I will be posting on the Finding Happy One Day at a Time Facebook Page throughout the week to check in on you all and would love to hear from you so don’t be shy!! Keep writing in your journals, it’s so important!! Thank you for sticking with me on this journey, it is still my hope to persuade you to alter your thoughts, even a little, in a more positive direction, while you help me find my happy too!!

Much Love,

Lisa
