Make Memories

I made going somewhere new each year a goal of mine last year and it has evolved into road trips, concerts and unexpected vacations. This year I’ve taken it to a new level and I’m looking forward to an amazing line up of fun, laughter and memories. 🧡

There is so much to experience in this life, don’t limit yourself out of fear. It doesn’t have to be extravagant, just new. Treat your senses to new scenery, new people and new adventures.

All of the household chores, work and everyday life stuff will be there when you get back, take time to open your eyes and expand your mind to a new story to tell. 🦋🧡

Self Care Includes Sleep

It’s scientifically proven that your mental health affects your physical health, and vice versa, in many ways. It’s easy to overlook and the majority of the time we don’t even realize until we show up to work in our slippers, or insomnia takes over our nights.

Taking care of yourself in all ways mental and physical is so important for your health and your sanity. And while mental breaks, breathing deep, and caring for your mind is key, sometimes we forget that sleep is the body’s natural healing mechanism. Every now and then we need to check in with ourselves to make sure we are allowing ourselves enough.

I know it can sometimes be impossible to adjust your sleep habits and it’s a vicious cycle consisting of your daily practice, what you eat, and what your schedule allows. However try to be aware of how each of these are affecting your sleep and consider that lack of solid rest may be the root of how you are feeling inside and out.

Take care of yourself because you are worth it and living as the best version of you means feeling like it.

Appreciate the Little Things

Appreciate the little things in this life. A laugh with a friend, smile from a stranger, hug from a loved one, quiet drive to work, warm covers in the morning, fresh coffee, long conversations, sunshine on you face and the opportunity to choose how you see things. 🧡

Appreciate the beauty that surrounds you and the love that guides you. It’s the little things that fill your heart and show you just how incredible this life can be. 🦋🧡

Thoughts are Powerful

I had someone ask me yesterday my best tips to boost confidence. I smiled because never did I think I would be one to give out tips on confidence, and I was humbled by the question. It is true that I’ve never been more comfortable in my own skin and fear is no longer in the driver seat, but what could I share to help on those days when your confidence is shaky.

After some thought I realized I may have a few tips to share. While it’s taken a lot of self reflection and internal reworking for long term change, there are several practices that have helped me tremendously along the way. First one is music.

Music for me is a source of inspiration, motivation and joy. It’s a way to reach my soul without even knowing, and when I need to feel whatever I am feeling in that moment music is my conductor.

However to build my confidence I relied heavily on my inner thoughts and how I spoke to myself. Daily reminders or positive affirmations were key to how I was going to hold my head that day.

Start your day with an “I am” statement and repeat it over and over until all of a sudden you deeply believe it.

I am good

I am loving

I am confident

I am strong

I am loved

I am capable

I am honest

I am proud

I am going to be ok

These are powerful because your thoughts become your beliefs and when you believe you are, you will be.

Everyday brought new challenges and everyday I reminded myself who I am in my heart, and soon I would end my day with “I will” statements.

I will be gentle with myself

I will forgive

I will be grateful

I will love

I will follow my dreams

I will succeed

I will accomplish all my heart desires

And soon, I started doing all those things and my life began to shift. I still have to remind myself some days but it’s not as difficult to bounce back because the belief instilled in me of all I am worth and all that I am surfaces quicker.

Thoughts are powerful especially when we use them for good 🧡 remind yourself just how incredible you are everyday and soon you will believe it so deeply that no one and nothing can take it from you 🦋🧡

It’s Your Path in Your Time-Don’t Compare it to Others

In a recent conversation with a friend, the subject of how easy it is to compare ourselves to others came up. We talked about how when we look at something that someone else has accomplished, especially if we have a similar dream, it feels natural to wonder how they climbed the mountain of success, how we can do it like them or even why we haven’t.

This is a vice for many, and a dark tunnel I entered many times through my journey, sometimes so focused on someone else’s happy ending, I lost sight of my own. While every now and then I find myself staring into the dark once again, I now close my eyes and realize what I learned from my past lessons.

That there is much more to someone’s back story then we will ever know, and each of us not only has a unique script, but a time for it to be told. 🧡

While we may all picture similar paths for ourselves, not one us accomplishes this life the same, not one of us is passionate for the same reason or dreams the same way. Each of us are unique, because each of us bring something spectacular to the table in our own perfect time.

Don’t compare yourself to those around you, believe in the uniqueness of your story, shine the light only you possess and walk the path only you were meant to, because the mountain may be steep, but it’s yours and yours alone, and it will be worth the climb. 🦋🧡

Admit When You Are Wrong

Forgiveness, a piece of the journey in the puzzle of life that can be difficult from all angels, but so vital for well being.

While forgiving others and yourself are two very important aspects of forgiveness there is one step beforehand that can potentially throw you for a loop.

Admitting you may have hurt someone you care about in the first place.

I think if you ask my parents what the most stubborn feature of my personality was growing up, admitting that I was wrong is up there high on the list, if not number one. However it had also been one of my biggest lessons in this life, learning to take a good look at my own actions, owning them and then apologizing for them.

Asking for forgiveness is critical, but we must admit we misspoke, misstepped or hurt someone in the first place to do so, intentional or not. And, while it’s a difficult concept to swallow, it’s incredible growth when you realize the bridges it can mend and the peace it can bring into your life and to those around you.

Forgiveness is freeing, but remember to take a good look at yourself and understand that in order to take that jump we must first step into responsibility of our own actions.
