WORDS ON TAP – A New Adventure Begins

writingSometimes, we must take a moment to figure out if what you are doing in this life aligns with what you want for this life. That moment for me has been these last few months. While my blog has been quiet, the ideas and the planning have been ongoing. There is so much I want to do that sometimes I overwhelm myself and I get burnt out. Before that happened with writing (again) I decided to take a break to decide what it was I was trying to accomplish. I am deeply grateful to those who have kept the FB Happiness Page going as I figured some stuff out. I love seeing the posts from everyone. They’re beautiful reminders for myself that the simplest words, in quotes, articles, sayings and even memes, can connect with people in ways you never imagined, which leads me to the meaning behind this post.

In taking that moment and contemplating my next steps, I realized that there was one underlying theme in this first half of the year. So far it has been filled with “firsts”. First trip to Alabama and Tennessee, first time eating crab claws, first Spartan race, first marathon relay, first kid graduating high school, first time walking a college campus with my daughter, first time to a chiropractor, first time experiencing goat yoga (this is Sunday), first time to a Writers Conference (this is Saturday)(busy weekend lol), and first time I’ve actually taken writing seriously. Understanding this theme and what it meant for me to step outside my comfort zone and how it worked into my next adventure, I realized that there are no coincidences, and we can learn from each of our “firsts”. That being said, I’ve decided to embark on another first. First time business owner.

As I was reminded by others, words are powerful, and while words come easy for me, WOT wordsthat is not always the case for everyone. I have known many people who have the passion and the heart, but just can’t find the words, and I want to help, which is how Words on Tap was born. A freelance writing service and a future platform for words from around the Region, my hope for this business is to bring awareness to a silent art, and help you find the words and showcase exactly who you are, and what you or your business are about.

Presently you can find my information on my Facebook Page “Words on Tap”, Instagram “wordsontapwriting,” and Twitter “@WOTwriting”, as my website is under construction. Check it out, and I hope if you ever get stuck with not knowing what to say or how to say it, you look me up, I’m happy to help you find the “write” words.

Much Love,

Lisa J.

P.S. I still intend to post here as often as time allows me, so stay tuned, as my mission is and always has been to spread as much positive love as I can in this world, and this platform is where I started and the place I will always return to. ❤

Be the Pebble

I’ve been telling my mom since I was a kid that I was going to be on Oprah and change the world. I was always the dreamer and she knew it. She’d laugh, shake her head and smile and say “you know if anyone can, it’s you.”

Back then I thought in order to do that I’d have to find fame, recognition, and do something huge that everyone could see. I had big plans in my head, big goals I could see, but could never quite find the path to get there.

While there are many lessons in this journey of mine, the one I almost missed and I would say, most important, was that to change the world, all you need is a smile, a kind word, a grateful heart and an open mind.

The ripple effect…one pebble can change the water, one small act can change a moment, a mindset or even a life. You have the ability to cause that effect everyday the second you open your eyes. It’s a beautiful realization and a beautiful way to live 🧡🦋

Choose to be the pebble and choose to change the world. Have an amazing day!

Don’t Pass an Opportunity to Hear Their Story

Today proved once again that faith and love always win. Even in darkness there is always light, if you just look within 🧡 I am incredibly grateful for the people in my life, those I have known for years and those who I’ve only just met.

I met a wonderful man this weekend who braved the nasty weather to run, not because he loves to run (although I’m sure he does) but because of the friendships he makes along the way. “Sometimes peoples’ stories are ones you can’t even imagine. Don’t ever pass up opportunities to hear them”. David Ralston, 74, superhuman and amazing person.

I am forever thankful to all those stories and wonderful hearts I have gotten to know along the way and look forward to those I have not heard or met yet. 🦋🧡

Open your mind to those around you and you will learn more than you ever thought possible🧡

Don’t Wait. Live Now.

There is no question that life can throw some serious unexpected curve balls, sometimes at your face, that make you truly think about everything that deeply matters to you. Its times like these that have the potential to shatter your plan and make you take a good hard look at your life in a way you never imagined you would have to.

You know the moments, the ones that scare you, humble you and have you bracing for the next pitch. They take your breath away and have your mind racing at a speed that makes your head spin.

Ironically, its in these moments when we feel it’s time to profess our feelings, plan that trip, chase our dream or take that leap of faith we’ve been mulling over for longer than we can remember.

I’ve sat in those moments, one just recently, and I’ve had those thoughts and contemplated my life and all that it has been and all that it could be. My biggest take away from it, was why do we wait until these moments to choose to be the person we long to be?

We can overthink, overanalyze, over dramatize and pretend like we have forever and a day to do or say what’s in our heart, but the truth is, we have these moments, right now, Why wait?

Don’t wait to tell those you love what they mean to you, don’t wait to take that trip with your kids, or follow that dream you’ve carried with you since the first grade. Don’t wait to hit the road for your next adventure, or write that book or screenplay, or go back to school, open a business or learn to sail.

Don’t wait, do it now. We are not promised tomorrow and there is no room for regret. Say I love you, plan the vacation, step out of your bubble, and make that dream a reality. Now.

You have the choice to live this life while you live this life. Don’t wait for the curve ball, live it now and laugh til your stomach hurts, dance til the music stops, sing so the world can hear you and live every second you have – because you can.

Don’t wait to love the beautiful, exciting, incredible life you are meant to live. Live now, live every moment you have, and live it with love in your heart, grace in your step and fire in your soul.

And of course, Have an awesome day!

Take a Step Back

Many times in life we get so wrapped up in a situation, a project or relationship we forget why we began. Sometimes we are so blinded by making whatever we are doing work we lose sight of who we truly are or what we are truly trying to accomplish.

This can be in our work or personal life and sometimes taking a step back is exactly what we need to be successful. We are driven by timelines, smooth roads and wins and can easily become overwhelmed if there is a hiccup along the way. This can lead to overthinking and hyper analyzing and before you know it you are stuck in a mindset that won’t allow you to move forward.

Take a step back so you can breath, look at things from a different perspective, or just for a moment stop the madness in your head to find your heart. Then, when you’re ready you can step back in with fresh eyes and renewed sense of self.

Take a moment for you and for whatever or whoever may be involved. That time may allow you to see things differently and give you the strength to move forward in a way that is good for everyone.

Have a beautiful day!

Appreciate the Little Things

Appreciate the little things in this life. A laugh with a friend, smile from a stranger, hug from a loved one, quiet drive to work, warm covers in the morning, fresh coffee, long conversations, sunshine on you face and the opportunity to choose how you see things. 🧡

Appreciate the beauty that surrounds you and the love that guides you. It’s the little things that fill your heart and show you just how incredible this life can be. 🦋🧡

Have an amazing day!
