Don’t Take Things Personally

One of my most difficult life lessons ❤️ Believe it or not the way people treat you is not always about you. Many project internal emotions, ones that they don’t understand themselves, onto the closest people to them.

For most my life I always felt there was something wrong with me when this would happen. What did I do to make someone treat me poorly or twist my intentions? If they truly understood me they would know I would never intentionally hurt anyone.

I’ve finally come to terms with the fact that it’s not always about me, and with this, my heart is softer. I address these situations with much more kindness, compassion and understanding. I am careful with the way I respond and walk away if it’s necessary for my own peace.

One of the Four Agreements: Don’t Take Things Personally. People struggle everyday with their own internal battles and you just don’t know where the fear, hurt or insecurity is coming from so don’t judge, just be kind 🧡🦋

Give a Little Happy

Yes ❤️ You have the ability every day to make someone feel appreciated and loved. You have the ability to leave them smiling with their heart full. You have the power to give happiness to another. How amazing is that? Try it and you’ll be surprised how the reward in return is greater than the gift 🧡

Have a beautiful day 🧡🦋

Be the Pebble

I’ve been telling my mom since I was a kid that I was going to be on Oprah and change the world. I was always the dreamer and she knew it. She’d laugh, shake her head and smile and say “you know if anyone can, it’s you.”

Back then I thought in order to do that I’d have to find fame, recognition, and do something huge that everyone could see. I had big plans in my head, big goals I could see, but could never quite find the path to get there.

While there are many lessons in this journey of mine, the one I almost missed and I would say, most important, was that to change the world, all you need is a smile, a kind word, a grateful heart and an open mind.

The ripple effect…one pebble can change the water, one small act can change a moment, a mindset or even a life. You have the ability to cause that effect everyday the second you open your eyes. It’s a beautiful realization and a beautiful way to live 🧡🦋

Choose to be the pebble and choose to change the world. Have an amazing day!

The Four Agreements

I was recently reminded that this book has been on my list since the Triple W retreat in the mountains of North Carolina 🧘‍♂️ There is no coincidence in timing…A beautiful refresher that I was able to start and finish on my ride down south, back to the mountains of TN 🏔❤️

Don’t let the days pass you by, love yourself with impeccable words, authentic truth, without self judgement and fear, free to live each and every day to the fullest surrounded in love 🧡🦋

Have a beautiful weekend!

Xcel2Fitness – Training with a Purpose

I met Barbara Gederian Muckel, Director of Xcel 2 Fitness, at the Beast Bootcamp race, a local obstacle 5k, a few weeks ago after writing about her amazing program for Hometown Happenings. A program that helps to develop confidence, team mentality and grit in grade school age boys. After an instant connection I was so excited to hear there was a way I could support X2F by doing what I love! X2F has a Dream Maker opportunity where you can support the program and raise money by posting about your training for an upcoming race, and I just so happen to be training for one (well, now 2)!

Signing up to be a Dream Maker while I train for the Spartan Sprint AND the Wonder Woman Half in June allows me to help a great program in the process (and keep me accountable :)). This is a program I know my son would have loved, and brings teamwork, confidence and encouragement to our kids when they need it most!!

Follow me on my journey to the Spartan and 13.1 in support of Xcel 2 Fitness!! If your school has X2F, look into it, if your school doesn’t know about X2F, please inquire, and if you just want to support a fantastic program, please donate!! Thank you from the X2F team and ME!!

Don’t Pass an Opportunity to Hear Their Story

Today proved once again that faith and love always win. Even in darkness there is always light, if you just look within 🧡 I am incredibly grateful for the people in my life, those I have known for years and those who I’ve only just met.

I met a wonderful man this weekend who braved the nasty weather to run, not because he loves to run (although I’m sure he does) but because of the friendships he makes along the way. “Sometimes peoples’ stories are ones you can’t even imagine. Don’t ever pass up opportunities to hear them”. David Ralston, 74, superhuman and amazing person.

I am forever thankful to all those stories and wonderful hearts I have gotten to know along the way and look forward to those I have not heard or met yet. 🦋🧡

Open your mind to those around you and you will learn more than you ever thought possible🧡

Choose Growth

Life is full of choices, fun ones, scary ones, big and small. Every time you turn around you have a choice to make and whether it’s as simple as what flavor ice cream you eat or whether to change careers, they are still choices for you alone to make.

So ask yourself, when you are faced with the choice to move forward in your life, to step into your true path, or stay exactly where you are, what choice will you make? Will you allow fear to choose due to possible failure or will you embrace the possibilities? Will you open the door to opportunity or will you walk past because you are comfortable?

One of many of my favorite quotes is “if your dream doesn’t scare you, it’s not big enough”. New is scary, uncomfortable is scary, change is scary but overcoming the scary can open you up to the incredible. 🧡

We have the choice to grow from our experiences, challenges and victories, and the ability to accomplish amazing things in this life if we choose to, but it’s up to us to choose. What will you choose?

I hope you have a fabulous day and I hope you choose incredible 🧡🦋
